Join us for an exciting Minecraft competition set in a Dubai-themed virtual world! Open to students from across the MENA region aged 7-12 from Years 3-6, during March and April 2024.

Participants will engage in a series of competitive Minecraft play, leading to an elimination process to determine the finalists. The top players will then battle it out at the DEF Grand Final on 1 May, where the champions will be celebrated and crowned the winner on stage at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Online assistance and dedicated teacher support packs will be provided to young gamers through this thrilling journey!

Each school should nominate one DEF representative who will register their school teams online for this tournament. If you are a parent, please reach out to the Principal at your child's school.


In an exhilarating partnership with Microsoft, secondary students aged 11 and up are invited to unleash their creativity by designing and developing their own games using the educational coding platform, MakeCode. Participants will design their game based on the theme of the Emirates Lunar Missions and have a deadline to submit their creations, which will be evaluated by industry experts.

These professionals will judge and score the entries, selecting the top 5 games for a special showcase at the DEF event on 1-2 May at Dubai World Trade Centre. Here, an overall winner will be announced and celebrated with an on-stage prize ceremony.

To assist in this creative endeavor, online help and comprehensive teacher support packs will be available.

Join the quest to crown your students as the ultimate DEF Esports School Champions across the UAE!

Your school is invited to participate in electrifying qualifiers for Rocket League and Fortnite this March and April, with the choice to compete in one or both games. Teacher support packs will be provided.

DEF is committed to educating and empowering students, teachers, and parents about the gaming industry and its vast opportunities. To achieve this, DEF will be organising a series of in-school career talks and interactive workshops led by industry experts.

These sessions will delve into the gaming ecosystem, offering valuable insights into coding, career paths in gaming, and game design. Additionally, they will cover important topics such as healthy gaming habits, both mental and physical, online safety, and the ergonomics of gaming.

These workshops are designed to be engaging speaking sessions with plenty of opportunities for interactive participation.

DEF 2024 invites students age 7 and above to experience a one-of-a-kind view into the world of gaming!

All schools and universities that pre-register will be able to attend DEF 2024 at Dubai World Trade Centre, between 1-2 May, entirely free of charge!

At the event, students will have the opportunity to explore and experience the latest futuristic, innovative and immersive technology, support their peers in the grand finals, explore vendor offerings, engage in fun activities, meet with industry experts to discuss their future careers and get a deeper understanding of the gaming and esports worlds.

With live on stage battles, new technology and the chance to learn about the history of gaming, this unique festival offers a comprehensive 360 degree experience for students!
